Legends of Rhötct - Of Kings and Cravens
The Languages of Rhötct
Arcanic: The ancient language of magic, nobody is known to speak it – though all mages use it when casting spells.
Common: The language spoken in the Midlands, popularized by the founding of the city of Ailon as a common speech for those that allied in the Great Pilgrimage.
Draconic: The language spoken by the Dragonkin, supposedly the same language Dragons use amongst themselves.
Fuþark: More commonly known as Dwarven, although it is used by other races too – such as some Trolls.
Elven: A crude generalization of the various Elven dialects. While anyone who speaks one can undestand another they are still considered to be vastly different between the various species of Elf.
Kesqerian: The native tongue of El-Kesqer, written from right to left.
Nordic: The language spoken in Nordhallr, shares similarities with Fuþark verbally but is much more easier to learn in comparison, and is completely different on paper.
Raven: The language spoken in Ravensland, is actually a combination of Nordic, Common and Wood Elven, but sounds nothing like any of them.
Sylvan: Often confused with Wood Elven, is actually the tongue spoken by the Fae and is said to be understood by animals and plants.
Yuan-Cheese: The language of the people of Yuan-Chi, while learning to speak it isn’t that hard, learning to write with it takes years due to the many letters in the alphabet.
